Robots that participated in the Beijing Games now have to work

The second edition of the Beijing World Humanoid Robot Games has shifted its focus from athletic demonstrations—such as running, jumping, and playing soccer—to practical labor capabilities. The event now challenges participating machines to demonstrate their ability to perform real-world work.

To reflect this new emphasis, the tournament has significantly expanded its competition environments. The number of task-inspired scenarios designed to test the robots' functional working skills has increased from six in the previous event to twenty this year.
