Robots that participated in the Beijing Games now have to work

The second edition of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing has introduced a new focus on practical labor, moving beyond traditional athletic demonstrations. While previous iterations centered on activities like running, jumping, and playing soccer, the current event requires participating machines to perform tasks that simulate real-world work environments.

To facilitate this transition, organizers have significantly expanded the competition's scope, increasing the number of task-inspired scenarios from six to twenty. This shift aims to demonstrate the functional utility and professional capabilities of humanoid robots beyond their performance in recreational or sports-based challenges.
