Rock art: Tiny Sasanian bird motif discovered in southern Iran

Archaeologist Abolhasan Atabaki has identified a small bird motif engraved on rock surfaces in the Marvdasht Plain of Fars province, southern Iran. The carving, which measures 3 by 2 centimeters, is currently being described as the smallest known example of a bird motif dating to the Sasanian period.
