Thousands of Rohingya refugees protest camp conditions and plead to return home

Tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees living in dozens of camps in Bangladesh held a massive rally to protest deteriorating camp conditions and demand a safe return to their home state in Myanmar. The coordinated demonstrations took place nine years after the refugees originally fled a violent government crackdown in Myanmar.

Simultaneously, the United Nations issued a warning regarding the situation, stating that the already dire human rights environment inside Myanmar has plunged to a "new low" amidst the ongoing displacement crisis.
