Romania above EU average with 70% of electricity produced by renewables in Q2

In the second quarter of the year, Romania generated 70% of its electricity from renewable sources, placing the country above the European Union average. This performance contrasts with the broader EU, where renewable energy accounted for 54.1% of total electricity production during the same period.

The EU's renewable output saw a marginal decline from the 54.3% recorded in the same quarter of 2025. Within the European Union, solar energy served as the primary contributor to the renewable sector, representing 41.6% of the total renewable electricity generated.
