‘Be adults’: Joe Root gets rid of England Test team’s midnight curfew

Joe Root has abolished the midnight curfew for the England men's Test cricket team upon returning as captain for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan. Taking charge from his predecessor Ben Stokes, Root instructed his players to "be adults" following a series of previous late-night incidents that had originally prompted the restrictions.

The midnight curfew had previously been imposed across England men's teams as a disciplinary measure. By lifting the restriction, the returning captain is shifting the responsibility of conduct and professionalism directly onto the players themselves.
