Royal Poppy favoured for Kilowatt Trophy

World 1 source 1 country 55m ago

A field of eighth will face the starter in tomorrow’s $1.25-million Kilowatt Trophy, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over 7 furlongs (1,400m). The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at each runner and their chances of winning. MAIN MISTRESS (USA): (5 dk b/br m by Mo Town – Timetobegone) – Her form reads poorly and there’s nothing on paper to suggest she can win this.

That said, reports are that Main Mistress has been training with purpose coming into this and she must be respected at a price. She could sneak into the frame if she runs her best. CALIFORNIA GOLD: (6 b h by Lion Tamer – Blue Saphira) – Simply outclassed here.

Has shown little to suggest he can be competitive at this level. UNSPUN (USA): (4 dk b/br c by Spun To Run – U Needa Ride) – Current form offers nothing to get excited about. Based on recent efforts, Unspun cannot be recommended for a winning run.

Atlantic Convoy (Dane Nelson) wins the second staging of the $3-million Bruceontheloose Sprint over 6½ furlongs in a blistering 1:18.4 — a new Stakes record on Saturday, Dercember 7, 2024. MISS GROVE (CAN): (4 dk b/br m by Amis Gizmo – Marilyn’s Last Love) – Miss Grove won smartly over this 7-furlong trip on June 28 in 1:25.3. If Miss Grove can reproduce that effort, she takes some beating.

Has the speed and proven form at the distance. ATLANTIC CONVOY (CAN): (6 ch h by Stormy Atlantic – My Sweet Emily) – Finished 4th, beaten 7½ lengths by Mojito over 6 furlongs (1,200m) on August 30. The step up to 7 furlongs should suit him perfectly.

Atlantic Convoy is expected to run a much improved race and be right there at the finish. IMPRESSIVE FORCE (USA): (5 b h by Klimt – Onebadkitty) – Was 5th, beaten 9½ lengths by Mojito over 6 furlongs last time. This galloping course should be right up his alley and he is expected to improve significantly off that run.
