Ruling BNP authorises PM Rahman to finalise nominee for Bangladesh's presidential elections

The ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has officially authorized Prime Minister Khaleda Rahman to select the party's nominee for the upcoming presidential election. This decision marks a formal step in the process of filling the vacant head-of-state position within the country.

Under Article 123(2) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, the government is mandated to conduct an election to fill the presidential vacancy within 90 days of the office becoming vacant. The authorization granted to the Prime Minister serves to streamline the nomination process in accordance with these constitutional requirements.
