Russia sanctions bill passes House Rules Committee

On Monday, the House Rules Committee approved a bipartisan legislative measure designed to increase sanctions against Russia in response to its ongoing war in Ukraine. The bill was originally championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

Under the provisions of the newly approved legislation, the sitting president—specifically President Trump—would be granted the authority to impose penalties on individuals working on behalf of the Russian government who are found to be stalling peace negotiations.
