S. Korea, U.S. vow to strengthen cooperation to accelerate wartime OPCON transition in defense talks

South Korea and the United States have pledged to strengthen their bilateral cooperation in order to accelerate the transition of wartime operational control (OPCON). The commitment was made during recent defense talks held in Washington on September 18.

The discussions focused on advancing the conditions-based transfer of wartime command from Washington to Seoul, marking an ongoing effort by the two allied nations to realign their combined defense structure.
