‘Sainty Connection’ brings Jamaican pride to fashion

For Sainty Connection, founder of the clothing brand of the same name, fashion is more than what people wear; it is a way of celebrating identity, culture and the places that shape them. Originally from St Elizabeth, Jamaica, and now based in New York, the entrepreneur and event promoter has transformed his connection to his home parish into a growing clothing and lifestyle brand built around the message: “Rep weh yuh come from.” Sainty Connection was created out of Sainty’s desire to give people something tangible through which they could celebrate their roots, while making the concept relatable to people across the Jamaican diaspora and beyond. “Sainty represents St Elizabeth, but the bigger message goes beyond one parish,” he explained.

“Whether you’re from Jamaica, New York, the UK, Canada, or anywhere else, you should be proud to represent your place.” The brand offers a diverse range of pieces for men and women, including T-shirts, shorts sets, hoodies, sweatsuits, jerseys, hats, crop tops, slides, socks and other merchandise. The designs are intended to be versatile enough for everyday wear, events or simply making a statement about where one comes from. Sainty Connection remains heavily involved in the creative process, developing ideas for the wording, colours, logos, concepts and placement of designs before working with others to bring those ideas to life.

“I’m very hands-on with the creative direction. A lot of the ideas come directly from me. I make sure the finished product represents my vision and the Sainty Connection brand,” he added.

That hands-on approach appears to be resonating with customers, with Sainty describing the response to the brand as overwhelmingly positive. “What means the most to me is seeing people actually wearing Sainty Connection and being proud to represent it,” he said. “Customers like the designs and the meaning behind the brand.

Every bit of support motivates me to keep improving the quality and bringing out new ideas.” For him, the distinguishing factor is the cultural message behind the clothing. “What makes Sainty Connection unique is that it’s more than clothing: it represents identity, culture and connection,” he said. “We’re bringing Jamaican culture and our roots into fashion while still making it something anybody can connect with.” His ambitions extend far beyond selling clothing.
