Dog owners often say their pets know how they are feeling. Now, new research from The University of Vienna suggests they may be right. Scientists used brain scans to study how dogs react when they look at human faces showing different emotions.
The results showed that dogs process happy faces differently than sad, angry or fearful ones. Researchers say the findings help explain why dogs have become such skilled companions for people.
