Traffic management institutions in the Dominican Republic are failing to control widespread roadway congestion, according to reports highlighting the daily struggles of traffic agents at intersections across the country. Agents attempting to organize the flow of vehicles are routinely overwhelmed by the volume of traffic.

The situation is described as evidence that the responsible regulatory institution has lost control over the traffic chaos it is mandated to prevent, organize, and manage. The ongoing issues point directly to systemic challenges related to the enforcement and application of the country's traffic legislation, specifically Law 63-1.
