Oaxaca registers a 4.1 magnitude earthquake in Matías Romero

Multiple seismic events of varying magnitudes were officially recorded by the Servicio Sismológico Nacional (SSN) in Mexico on August 7 and 8. The activity included tremors centered in Chiapas, specifically impacting the municipality of Cd Hidalgo with magnitudes ranging from 4.1 to 4.7, as well as a separate 4.0 magnitude event recorded in Coyuca de Benítez, Guerrero.

The most notable event for Cd Hidalgo, Chiapas, was a 4.7 magnitude earthquake occurring at 03:13 hours at a depth of 15.7 km, located 136 km southwest of the city. Additional seismic activity in the same region included tremors of 4.1, 4.3, and another 4.1 magnitude at various times and depths, according to preliminary official reports.
