Chiapas registers a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Cintalapa

The state of Chiapas, Mexico, recently experienced two seismic events recorded by the Servicio Sismológico Nacional (SSN). The first tremor, registering at a magnitude of 4.0, occurred on July 31 at 22:56 hours, with its epicenter located 14 kilometers northwest of the municipality of Cintalapa at an unspecified depth.

A second seismic event occurred on Friday at 23:22 hours, registering a magnitude of 4.2. This subsequent tremor had its epicenter 154 kilometers southwest of Mapastepec and occurred at a depth of 10.0 kilometers, briefly surprising local residents according to preliminary official reports.
