Search for missing Nissan–Buka boat widens as regional partners join effort

Search operations have widened beyond Papua New Guinea waters for a small vessel carrying three people that went missing between Nissan Island and Buka. The Autonomous Bougainville Government is coordinating the expanded search alongside national and international agencies.

Strong winds and adverse weather conditions continue to hamper the ongoing rescue and search efforts, prompting the inclusion of regional partners in the operation.
