UNCCD Secretary: "If companies don't invest in land, they won't exist in 15 years"

Yasmine Fouad, executive secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), stated in Beijing that private sector investment in land preservation is essential for corporate survival. Speaking ahead of the COP17 summit, Fouad emphasized that businesses relying on natural resources like land and water must prioritize environmental financing to remain viable within the next 15 years.

Separately, the United States is increasing economic pressure on Iran through intensified sanctions. Following years of existing economic strain and ongoing regional military tensions, the Trump administration is preparing further measures against the Iranian government, which remains resistant to current financial constraints.
