Second bear hunt in Florida: The state expands permits and this time will not listen to the public.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has scheduled a second consecutive black bear hunting season for December 2026. As the state’s largest land mammals, these bears will be subject to expanded hunting permits during this upcoming period.

Unlike previous seasons, the state has indicated that it will not solicit or incorporate public feedback regarding the implementation of this hunt. This decision marks a shift in the regulatory process for managing the state's black bear population.
