Senate tables hemp amendment at center of funding fight, allowing one-month delay of ban

The U.S. Senate voted 61-32 to table a bipartisan amendment aimed at stripping a one-month delay on a federal ban concerning most hemp-derived THC products. Led by Sen. Ted Budd (R-N.C.) and approximately a dozen other senators, the last-minute effort failed to keep the original timeline for the prohibition.

As a result of the Senate's action, the implementation of the federal ban on these hemp-derived products is set to be delayed by one month. The hemp amendment had served as a central point of contention within a broader funding fight.
