Drought worsens in Puerto Rico and doubles in one week

The severe drought affecting Puerto Rico has escalated significantly within a single week, with extreme drought conditions now spanning 17 percent of the territory. This marks a near-doubling from the 9.49 percent recorded the previous week.

The rapid intensification of the drought has led to a deterioration of local water reservoirs. Consequently, more than half a million people across the region are currently subjected to water service disruptions or rationing measures.
