Drought worsens in Puerto Rico and doubles in one week

The drought in Puerto Rico has worsened significantly within a single week, with extreme drought conditions now affecting 17 percent of the territory's land area. This represents a near-doubling from the 9.49 percent recorded the previous week.

As the deterioration of local reservoirs continues, the water crisis has impacted the population directly. More than half a million people are currently subjected to water restrictions or service disruptions as a result of the intensifying dry conditions.
