Drought worsens in Puerto Rico and doubles in one week

The drought affecting Puerto Rico has intensified significantly over the course of a single week, with extreme drought conditions now impacting 17 percent of the island's territory. This marks a near-doubling from the 9.49 percent recorded the previous week.

The worsening dry conditions have led to the deterioration of local water reservoirs. Consequently, more than half a million people across the region are currently subjected to water service restrictions or rationing measures.
