Drought worsens in Puerto Rico and doubles in one week

The drought in Puerto Rico has worsened significantly within a single week, with extreme drought conditions now covering 17 percent of the territory. This marks nearly a double increase from the 9.49 percent recorded the previous week.

The rapid intensification of the drought has led to a deterioration of local water reservoirs. Consequently, more than half a million people across the island are currently subjected to water restrictions and related impacts.
