Drought worsens in Puerto Rico and doubles in one week

The drought affecting Puerto Rico has intensified significantly within a single week, with extreme drought conditions now impacting 17 percent of the territory. This represents nearly double the 9.49 percent recorded the previous week.

As reservoir levels continue to deteriorate due to the worsening weather conditions, the crisis has directly impacted the local population. More than half a million people are currently subjected to water service interruptions or restrictions as authorities manage the dwindling water supplies.
