Colombian singer Shakira has stated that Latin immigration in Spain is celebrated and embraced rather than merely tolerated, ahead of her historic residency of 12 concerts in Madrid.

The remarks were made 18 days prior to the launch of her upcoming performances in the Spanish capital, which form part of her ongoing concert tour, 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran'. The artist directly linked her positive view of the demographic's reception in the country to the thematic significance of her upcoming run of shows, beginning on September 18.
