DAR ES SALAAM: HEADING to Kisarawe Rally this weekend, Mkwawa Rally team driver Samir Shanto has pledged to dedicate his victory to his family, most notably his daughter, Bint Shanto, who tied knots over the weekend. Shanto, who has been actively participating in the motor rally since early 1990s, said in Dar es Salaam today, July 27, 2026, that his participation in the Kisarawe Rally targets a podium reward for his daughter, who for many years, prayed for him to drive safely and claim a clean victory. All the best Dad, play safe and clinch a clean victory,” Shanto recalls.
Euro Cables Kisarawe Rally is the official name of the two-day event to be staged August 1 and 2, 2026 in Kisarawe District, according to its Director, Irfaan Aladin who named Snanto among the top contenders for the event’s diadem. The whole motor rally family, according to Shanto, joined him include his STADO Rally team mates; Ahmed Huwel, Saleh Balhabou, Mohamed Rassam, Awadh Bafadhil, all veteran rally drivers. Shanto envisions good performance in this August event as it comes exactly 20 years since he won the Kilimanjaro Rally in 2006.

According to Aladin, Euro Cables Kisarawe is the second round of this year’s National Rally Championship (NRC) to be run on the dusty roads of Kisarawe district, about 45 km southwest of Dar es Salaam. Maisam Fazal, one of the event’s organizers, said during the launch that over 15 drivers have already confirmed their participation while the organizers expected the number to reach over 25 cars during the official flag-off.
