Sheinbaum issues decree to strengthen government transparency platform and prepares initiative after eliminating the INAI

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum signed a decree on Tuesday in Mexico City to strengthen and expand government transparency following the elimination of the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information (INAI).

The newly signed decree establishes updated regulations that require the federal government to publicly release detailed information, including government contracts, data concerning subsidiaries of state-owned enterprises, and updates on public hearings.

In addition to issuing the decree to bolster transparency across all federal entities, the administration is preparing a subsequent legislative initiative to further govern transparency measures following the dissolution of the country's former oversight body.
