Sheinbaum responds to former DEA director: “It is absurd” to talk about supporting a military intervention

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum dismissed recent discussions regarding potential U.S. military intervention in Mexico as absurd during her morning press conference on Monday. Her remarks were made in direct response to statements from a former DEA director and a social media poll suggesting that a majority of Mexicans would support the entry of U.S. military forces into the country.

Sheinbaum further accused certain sectors within the United States of attempting to weaponize Mexico as a factor in the upcoming November U.S. elections. She characterized these efforts and related reports as entirely unsubstantiated attempts to foster an interventionist narrative.
