Nigeria: Simon Ekpa Appeals Six-Year Terrorism Sentence in Finland

Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafra separatist campaigner, has formally appealed the six-year prison sentence handed down by a Finnish court for terrorism-related offences. The legal proceedings concern Ekpa’s activities in relation to the separatist movement in Nigeria, for which he was convicted in Finland.

In addition to the defendant’s appeal, the Finnish prosecution has also challenged the court's decision. The prosecution is seeking an extension of the six-year term, arguing that the original sentence is insufficient given the nature of the charges.
