Singapore open to considering chemical castration for sex offenders if proven effective: Shanmugam

Singapore is open to considering chemical castration as a measure to tackle sex crimes if there is clear evidence that the method is effective in reducing crime rates. Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam made this position known in a written parliamentary response.

Despite the openness to the measure, the minister noted that the evidence available so far regarding the effectiveness of chemical castration remains inconclusive.
