A survivor of the earthquake in Cali, Colombia, shares his experience.

A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, causing significant damage and casualties across a wide region. The seismic event originated at a depth of 90 to 120 kilometers within the Nazca plate, a factor that contributed to the tremor being felt extensively throughout the country and in neighboring territories. Experts from the National Seismological Network have clarified that the earthquake's tectonic origin is distinct from recent seismic activity in Venezuela, despite the similar magnitude.

In the aftermath of the disaster, residents in the El Lido neighborhood of Cali have been forced to improvise living conditions amidst the debris of their homes. Survivors have been documented establishing communal kitchens among the ruins while searching for essential supplies and navigating the immediate challenges of displacement following the destruction.
