Enrollment in SNAP grocery aid is dropping faster than expected

Enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the largest federally funded food aid program in the United States, has dropped by more than 13% over a 12-month period.

This decline is significantly steeper than initial government projections. The drop coincides with the implementation of new work requirements and other provisions stemming from legislation signed by President Donald Trump.
