SOMOS demands that Sheinbaum's government recognize the disappearances as a national emergency

On August 30, the political party SOMOS formally requested that the administration of Claudia Sheinbaum classify the country's disappearance crisis as a national human rights emergency. The demand coincides with ongoing concerns regarding the scale of missing persons in Mexico.

The party cited data indicating that Mexico has accumulated more than 133,000 cases of disappearances. By calling for this official designation, SOMOS seeks to elevate the governmental response to address the humanitarian implications of these figures.
