Halton police announce largest human trafficking case in its history, 9 suspects face 85 charges

The Halton Regional Police Service has announced the results of the largest human trafficking case in the force’s history, following a sweeping 10-month, multi-jurisdictional investigation dubbed Project Troubadour. Nine suspects now face a total of 85 charges in connection with the case.

According to police, the multi-jurisdictional probe began in September 2025 after a female victim came forward to report her exploitation. Authorities described the illicit operation as a "soul-destroying crime" as they detailed the culmination of the extensive investigation.
