STAT+: Sanofi to lay off 229 workers in Mass., a year after $9.1B Blueprint Medicines acquisition

Pharmaceutical employer Sanofi has filed state records indicating plans to lay off 229 workers in Massachusetts. The affected employees previously worked for Blueprint Medicines, a Cambridge-based biotechnology company acquired by Sanofi for $9.1 billion.

The workforce reduction comes approximately one year following the completion of the multi-billion-dollar acquisition. Sanofi is currently one of the largest pharmaceutical employers operating within the state of Massachusetts.
