Sarepta Therapeutics, the bruised maker of Duchenne muscular dystrophy treatments, on Monday named Michael Severino, formerly the CEO of Tessera Therapeutics, as its new chief executive, starting Tuesday. Severino is replacing Doug Ingram, who announced earlier this year that he planned to retire after leading the biotech for nearly a decade. During his tenure, the company got three Duchenne treatments approved, but has faced ongoing questions about how effective they are and run into regulatory scrutiny over the safety of its gene therapy.
