Status of ‘iconic’ mountain goats living near evacuated B.C. community is uncertain

The status of a small, iconic group of mountain goats residing near the evacuated community of Summerland, British Columbia, remains uncertain amid an out-of-control wildfire burning in the area.

Motorists traveling toward Summerland from the north along Highway 97 have historically been able to frequently spot the animals in the vicinity. However, current conditions surrounding the wildfire have raised questions about the safety and well-being of the local goat population.
