Stay out of the water at two Toronto public beaches

Public health officials across Ontario and Massachusetts have issued advisories warning the public to stay out of the water at numerous beaches as of July 30. In Ontario, local health departments have identified specific closures across several regions, including three beaches in York Region, four in Niagara, two in Toronto, two in Halton, and two in Durham.

These advisories follow routine water quality testing conducted by regional health authorities. While specific causes for the Ontario closures were not detailed, officials in Massachusetts reported that more than two dozen beaches in that state are currently closed or posted due to elevated bacteria levels, dangerous cyanobacteria blooms, and other water quality concerns. Residents are advised to consult their local public health dashboards for the most current information regarding beach safety.
