NewzST THOMAS, Jamaica β Reggae singer, businessman and philanthropist Stevie Face has again joined forces with Help Jamaica Medical Mission to stage the third annual St Thomas Health Fair at Yallahs Primary School on Saturday, September 5, beginning at 8:00 am. The free event, presented by JACAN Food Distributors Ltd and Advanced Service Station in association with Help Jamaica Medical Mission, is being supported by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and will bring together overseas and locally based healthcare professionals to serve residents of St Thomas. Leading the Help Jamaica Medical Mission team is Dr Robert Clarke, who will be joined by doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals participating in the organisation's 2026 medical mission to Jamaica.
Parents waiting to receive service at a previously held Health Fair in St Thomas Adding further strength to the initiative is veteran anaesthesiologist and former president of the Medical Association of Jamaica Dr Brian James, who will participate in the health fair and bring a team of Jamaican-based doctors to assist in providing medical services. Services will include blood-pressure and diabetes checks, eye examinations, free eyeglasses, HIV/STI screening, back-to-school medicals, health screenings, medical advice and free medications. Face launched the initiative in 2024 after lobbying for several years to have the medical mission brought to St Thomas.
Close to 2,000 people benefited from the inaugural staging, and the event returned in 2025 with another strong turnout. "For me, this health fair is about making sure that people in St Thomas have access to quality healthcare regardless of their financial circumstances. This is my home, these are my people, and once I am in a position to help, I will continue to do so," said Face.
The health fair will also have a strong family component, with free food and refreshments for everyone attending. Children will be treated to entertainment, including bounce houses, face painting and clowns. Face is encouraging residents from across St Thomas to come out and take advantage of the free healthcare services and family activities.
