Subsidised rice reaches Humla through Chinese route after 7-year gap

Subsidised rice has reached Humla via a Chinese route for the first time in seven years, according to recent reports. The consignment was transported by twenty-eight trucks from Kathmandu to Kerung, where the cargo was transferred into eight Chinese containers—each with a capacity of 400 quintals—for the final leg of the journey to Hilsa.

The resumption of this supply route marks a significant logistical development for transporting essential subsidized foodstuffs to the remote Himalayan district through neighboring China, overcoming a multi-year hiatus in the cross-border transit arrangement.
