Swiss voters reject tighter neutrality rules that would have curbed NATO cooperation

Swiss voters have rejected a proposed constitutional initiative aimed at tightening the country's traditional neutrality rules. The measure sought to place strict limits on government actions and international cooperation.

Following the rejection, Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis noted that Switzerland will maintain its current policy approach. This outcome enables the Swiss government to continue deciding whether to implement economic sanctions on a case-by-case basis, preserving flexibility in its foreign policy and ongoing cooperation with NATO.
