Tajani: 'Forgiving' magistrates release too many, safety is a right

Italian official Antonio Tajani stated that too many individuals are released by "lenient" magistrates, emphasizing that public security is a fundamental right. He subsequently clarified that his stance does not call for the disapplication of the law, but rather for its full application.

In response to these remarks, the National Association of Magistrates (Anm) strongly criticized Tajani's statements, describing them as contrary to the rule of law and asserting that justice should not be used as a tool for intimidation.
