(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: National mixed doubles pair Jimmy Wong-Cheng Su Yin saved six match points today to pull off a dramatic comeback against a home pair and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Korea Masters.Trailing 17-20 in the deciding game, the three-month-old partnership fought back to beat South Korea's Kim Joon Young-Lee Yu Lim 13-21, 21-15, 25-23 in a thrilling second-round match that lasted just over an hour.Jimmy-Su Yin will face South Korea's Kim Jae Hyeon-Jang Ha Jeong for a place in the semi-finals.Their victory today means Malaysia will have three mixed doubles pairs in tomorrow's quarter-finals.The other two pairs are Chen Tang Jie-Clarissa San and Loo Bing Kun-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan. Chen Tang Jie-Clarissa San defeated Taiwan’s Wu Hsuan Yi-Yang Chu Yun 21-12, 13-21, 21-11 in 41 minutes.

In their fourth tournament together, Tang Jie-Clarissa beat Taiwan's Wu Hsuan Yi-Yang Chu Yun 21-12, 13-21, 21-11 in 41 minutes at Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan, South Korea. The Malaysian duo will meet either Japan’s Haruki Kawabe-Kokona Ishikawa or South Korea’s Lee Sang Won-Lee Hye Won in the last-eight match of the World Tour Super 300 championship tomorrow.
In their three previous World Tour tournaments, Tang Jie-Clarissa reached the last-16 twice and were eliminated in the first round once. Tang Jie was paired with Clarissa after his regular partner, Toh Ee Wei, underwent knee surgery. Malaysian mixed doubles pair Loo Bing Kun-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan also cruised into the quarter-finals with a convincing victory over a higher-ranked Australian pair.
The world No 112 pair beat the 68th-ranked Andika Ramadiansyah-Nozomi Shimizu 21-15, 22-20 in a 32-minute match.
