TARURA awarded as top-performing public institutions in procurement

ARUSHA: TANZANIA Rural Road Agency in Tanga Region has emerged among the country’s top-performing public institutions in procurement after winning two awards at the 10th Public Procurement Forum currently underway in Arusha. The awards, presented by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), recognised the agency’s outstanding compliance with the Public Procurement Act and its strong performance in contract management. TARURA Tanga received its first award for fully implementing the legal requirement to reserve at least 30 per cent of its procurement budget for special groups, a move that supports the government’s agenda of economically empowering women, youth and people with disabilities.

The recognition highlights TARURA Tanga’s commitment to transparency, accountability and strict adherence to public procurement laws, reinforcing confidence in its management of public funds. The annual Public Procurement Forum brings together government institutions, regulators and procurement professionals to promote best practices and improve efficiency in public procurement across the country.
