Zimbabwe have named a 17-member Lady Chevrons squad for the historic five-match T20 International series against South Africa, which gets underway on Friday at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The series will mark the start of a new era for the Lady Chevrons, with new coach Mark Cole set to make his debut after being unveiled by Zimbabwe Cricket earlier this week. The Lady Chevrons head into the series boosted by the return of captain Josephine Nkomo and Mayers, who missed the team’s recent tour of Pakistan.

Nyasha Gwanzura also returns to the squad alongside Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Modester Mupachikwa and Loreen Tshuma. The upcoming series marks South Africa’s senior women’s team’s inaugural visit to Zimbabwe, with all eyes on the Lady Chevrons to deliver in front of their home supporters. The two sides have previously faced each other twice during a Quadrangular Series staged in South Africa in 2017.

Zimbabwe will be hoping to make the most of home advantage as the series marks their first home assignment of the year. The Lady Chevrons last played at home in October last year when they hosted the United Arab Emirates.
