(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a teenage couple studying at a college in Kluang, Johor, after a newborn baby girl was found dead in a toilet bowl with stab wounds.Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said the deceased newborn was only discovered after her mother, 19, was taken to Enche Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital after giving birth, Utusan Malaysia reported."After giving birth to the baby girl, the woman contacted her teacher, who brought her to the hospital for a check-up. Doctors found that the student had just given birth, and was carrying another baby in her womb."Investigations at the house the student was renting led to the discovery of the baby girl's corpse in a toilet bowl.
Preliminary checks found stab wounds on the baby's body, although the cause of death is still under investigation," he said.Rahaman said police later arrested a 19-year-old man, who is believed to be the student's boyfriend and studies at the same college, to assist in investigations.He said an autopsy would be conducted today to determine the victim's cause of death and the number of stab wounds she suffered.The case is being probed under Sections 302 and 315 of the Penal Code for murder and acts carried out to prevent a child from being born alive or to cause its death after birth.Rahaman said a remand application for the male suspect would be made today.
