August 10 earthquake: 114,855 students were affected by damage to educational facilities; 91 schools suspended activities

Following the August 10 earthquake, the Ministry of National Education and Icetex released their first official assessment detailing the impact on educational facilities. The disaster affected a total of 114,855 students due to structural damages sustained at their schools.

As a direct result of the emergency and the severity of the infrastructure damage, 91 schools were forced to suspend their educational activities while evaluations and initial response efforts get underway.
