The Falklands Legislative Assembly marks 434 years since the first recorded sighting

The Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly observed Falklands Day on Friday, August 14, to commemorate the 434th anniversary of the first recorded sighting of the archipelago in 1592. The event was held in the capital, Stanley, to mark the historical milestone of the islands' discovery.

Ceremonies to mark the occasion included the raising of both the Falkland Islands flag and the Union flag on Victory Green. The event serves as an annual recognition of the territory's historical timeline and its ongoing connection to the United Kingdom.
