In Antananarivo, Madagascar, an ambitious project to implement a cable car system aimed at alleviating severe traffic congestion in a fast-growing sub-Saharan African city ultimately failed. The unique transportation initiative was designed to lift thousands of daily commuters above the urban gridlock.

Despite the initial rollout, the system encountered significant operational hurdles, running for only a few weeks before being halted. Currently, the infrastructure remains inactive, with empty cables hanging over the city and the original objective of resolving the urban transit crisis unfulfilled.
