Following the murder of “El Marino”, Michoacán will reinforce security in state prisons: the governor acknowledges a failure in surveillance.

Following the murder of an inmate known as "El Marino" inside the Centro Penitenciario de Alto Impacto de Mil Cumbres in Michoacán, state Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla acknowledged a surveillance failure. The governor admitted that a .25 caliber firearm managed to enter the high-impact state prison and was used by a prisoner to kill another inmate.

In response to the security breach, Governor Ramírez Bedolla announced that Michoacán will reinforce security measures across state prisons to prevent similar incidents and address the vulnerabilities exposed by the weapon's entry into the facility.
